Privada Storytelling
The Bert Aged 5+ Years holds a unique place in the Privada Color Series — also known as No Puppets Allowed. Believe it or not, this was the very first Nicaraguan puro to join the lineup, crafted entirely from tobaccos grown on AJ Fernández’s own farms in Estelí.
This cigar carries a story of defiance. A cease-and-desist from a certain puppet company nearly derailed its original branding, but rather than back down, Privada embraced the challenge. The result is a cigar that stands tall as a statement of independence, creativity, and authenticity in an industry too often dominated by complacent giants.
Factory-aged for more than four and a half years and now resting over five, The Bert delivers sharp, distinct flavors softened by time. Originally retailing at $16, it returns through Privada as an aged treasure for those who appreciate both heritage and rebellion.
Flavor Journey
The opening delivers cedar, roasted coffee, and black pepper with a steady draw of rich smoke. Midway, leather and dried fruit emerge, adding depth and intrigue. The final third closes with cocoa, earthy spice, and a return of peppery strength, showcasing the true character of a well-aged Nicaraguan puro.
Why It Belongs in Privada
Privada has never been about playing by industry rules. The Bert Aged 5+ Years is proof of that. It brings together AJ Fernández’s unmatched farming and blending expertise with Privada’s commitment to delivering aged, rare, and meaningful cigars that tell a story. This cigar belongs because it challenges convention while delivering an undeniably premium experience.
