Rasika Overseas Organic Jaggery Powder is a finely milled, zero-additive sweetener made from organic sugarcane to replace refined sugar in beverages, baking and traditional recipes.
This powdered gur (jaggery) offers the deep, caramel-like sweetness of traditional jaggery in a convenient, free-flowing form. Packed in a reusable wide-mouth jar and produced in India from carefully selected organic sugarcane, it preserves warm, molasses-forward flavor while making measuring and mixing simple for everyday use. The product is unrefined and additive-free, suited for cooks who prefer whole-cane sweeteners with a rustic taste profile.
How does this jaggery powder work as a substitute for refined sugar?
Use Rasika Overseas jaggery powder one-to-one in many recipes where brown sugar or white sugar is called for, keeping in mind its richer flavor and darker color. It dissolves quickly in hot liquids and blends smoothly into batters and doughs, adding depth without the need for melting blocks of gur.
- One-to-one swap for brown sugar in most recipes.
- Dissolves fast in hot drinks like tea and coffee.
- Fine texture prevents grittiness in cakes and cookies.
- Creates deeper color and caramel notes in sauces and curries.
What flavors and textures should I expect when I cook with it?
This jaggery powder carries a rounded, caramel-molasses flavor with subtle earthy and toffee-like notes. The powder is finely milled for consistent texture, so it provides sweetness without large granules while still conveying the characteristic jaggery aroma and warmth.
- Warm, caramelized sweetness with mild earthy undertones.
- Fine, free-flowing powder mixes evenly into recipes.
- Enhances baked goods with moist crumb and brown color.
- Retains traditional flavor more complex than plain sugar.
How should I store and measure this jaggery powder for best results?
The product arrives in a durable, resealable jar with a wide mouth for easy scooping and compact storage. Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place; occasional clumping is normal but can be corrected by brisk stirring or light sieving before use.
- Store in a cool, dry pantry away from direct sunlight.
- Use a dry spoon to prevent moisture and clumping.
- For baking, spoon and level the powder for accurate measures.
- Reuse the jar for keeping the sweetener fresh between uses.
