An elegant and complex Napa Valley red with blueberry, cassis and dried rose aromas layered with olive, cigar box and graphite. Fine-grained tannins frame bright red fruit, cocoa and orange peel, leading to a long, refined finish.
Food Pairing: Excellent with prime rib, filet mignon, roasted lamb, braised short ribs, wild mushrooms and aged cheeses.
96 Points - James Suckling
Generous and structured, the 2022 Opus One offers ripe blackcurrant and fresh black cherry aromas alongside graphite, pencil shavings, cocoa and espresso. Full-bodied with a gentle texture and youthful tannic grip, the palate remains tight and focused, while spicy, toasted oak adds richness and complexity. Best from 2028.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Opus One blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 0.5% Malbec. Rosemary and sandalwood accent ripe cherry aromas, leading to an expansive, plush medium- to full-bodied palate. Soft tannins and generous fruit create an extroverted expression with ample length through the finish.
92 Points - Wine Spectator
Fresh and relatively light in profile, the 2022 Opus One combines red currant, damson plum and cherry coulis with savory notes, tobacco and rose petals. Subtle cedar adds complexity through the finish, while a touch of iron provides definition at the end. Best from 2027 through 2037.
