Produced in Moldova, Divin Cuza Vodă 10 Years XO is an extra-aged grape brandy crafted in tribute to Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the historic prince who unified the Romanian Principalities. Produced according to the strict standards governing Moldovan Divin (grape spirits made following classical cognac production methods), this expression is distilled from double-distilled local white wine grapes in traditional copper pot stills. The eau-de-vie is aged for a minimum of 10 years in oak casks, allowing the distillate to absorb rich wood compounds and undergo gentle oxidation over a decade. The result is a smooth, sophisticated spirit characterized by deep amber tones, sweet dried fruit aromas, soft oak tannins, and a warm, velvety finish.
Food Pairing: Dark chocolate (60% to 70% cocoa), dried fruit platters (figs, raisins, apricots), roasted almonds, aged hard cheeses, or enjoyed alongside a fine cigar.
Tasting Notes: Clear, rich dark amber with brilliant copper reflexes, displaying a medium-to-full body and slow, elegant tears on the glass.
Nose: Elegant and inviting, opening with aromas of dried plum, raisin, and candied orange peel, followed by toasted oak, vanilla bean, subtle dark honey, and gentle baking spices.
Palate: Smooth, velvety, and well-balanced on the palate, featuring caramelized sugar, sweet grape nectar, and dried fruit upfront before developing into soft oak tannins, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and subtle toasted nut.
Finish: Long, warm, and persistent with lingering notes of sweet dried fruit, vanilla, and gentle oak wood warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a tulip glass or cognac snifter following a meal as a refined digestif, letting the spirit rest in the glass for a few minutes before sipping.
